Replacing Low resolution scan with a better scan |
Where do I post this to get it done?
Rainbow Magazine "rainbowmagazine-1993-05" May 1993 has low resolutation and is out of line with the rest of the issues.
http://archive.org/details/rainbowmagazine-1993-05I have uploaded from our collection of Rainbows a better scan.
"RainbowMay1993"
http://archive.org/details/RainbowMay1993Please replace the poor copy.
---------------------------
Also, I have uploaded
A Text Search able Index to The Rainbow magazine compiled from the Indexes that Rainbow included in most of it's Anniversary July Issues (Except for the last year which had none).
This Index is usable but far from perfect due to low resolution scans and the inherently faulty OCR process.
http://archive.org/details/RainbowMagazineTextSearchableIndex---------------------------
On the main page:
http://archive.org/details/rainbowmagazine"Browse by Subject / Keywords"
Is not usable. Can a link to this new Index replace it?

The improvement of low resolution scans is NOT my primary purpose, the Index is.
If any other low scans are found, I can check if better ones are available. (Send PM)

I added a link to the low scan. The name you suggest is taken IMHO.

The CoCo group has several Rainbow magazine collections.
One is now locked due to excessive usage and one we have been warned may need to also be locked.
One that I can point to is:
https://sites.google.com/a/aaronwolfe.com/cococoding/home/magazines/rainbow> Also, instead of just writing "Rainbow", write "The Rainbow Magazine

I do NOT want people to find my uploads, I and another person spent a lot of time producing the index and I was dismayed that it could not be added. I want to delete all my uploads and disappear.

This Forum and site is very hard to use, when logged in it thinks I am not.
I have spent three times the time that I normally take to write a post.

Re: Replacing Low resolution scan with a better scan |
Hello
I have written a review on the page with the low resolution scan. That should hopefully bring it into the attention of the maintainer of the Rainbow magazine collection.
Two suggestions:
On the page RainbowMay1993 (i.e., your page), it is not clear what the “current” refers to. Can you write the description clearly, and with more information? For example, “The complete collection of the Rainbow Magazine is available on archive.org (link). But, one of the issues has low resolution and is out of line with the rest. So I am uploading it _here_.”
Also, instead of just writing “Rainbow”, write “The Rainbow Magazine (Radio Shack Color Computer)” (or whatever the full title is). That is necessary because only with terms “magazine”, “computer”, etc would people find your upload when searching for the "rainbow magazine".
